First hinted at the very end of July, BMW Malaysia has now introduced the F06 BMW 640i Gran Coupe LCI (facelift in BMW speak) in Malaysia. Firstly, the most obvious addition this time round is the inclusion of the M Sport Package which brings along a host of visual upgrades and bumps the price to RM788,800 with on-the-road costs factored in sans insurance – the pre-facelift model went for RM8k less without said package.

Also, it should be noted that the 640i Gran Coupe you see here and the M6 are the only 6 Series models on sale now – the F13 Coupe and F12 Convertible are only available via special order. With that said, it’s back to the BMW 640i Gran Coupe LCI. Externally, the rejuvenated four-door coupe sports the signature front kidney grille with one less vertical bar along with Adaptive LED headlights with Selective Beam.

The M Sport Package brings along the M Aerodynamic kit which sees the inclusion of front and rear aprons as well as side sills trimmed in the selected body colour. In profile, the BMW 640i Gran Coupe LCI wears 19-inch M design double-spoke alloy wheels. The rear of the car features a sportier bumper, painted in Dark Shadow Metallic, for added visual drama while twin exhaust outlets reside within.

Inside, the interior is trimmed in bicolour Nappa leather upholstery – two combinations are available with a choice of Ivory White/Black or Cognac/Black. Other subtle changes include a black finish on the centre console, offset by silver accents, along with an updated frameless design for the centrally-mounted Information Display panel, which features in-plane switching (IPS) technology for improved visibility.

Aside from that, another nifty feature arrives in the guise of a “seatbelt parking” system. Said feature reduces pull to allow for proper fitment of the belt while unbuckling it will cause the electric motors to assist in the retraction of the belt. Elsewhere on the inside, matters remain relatively familiar.

Under the bonnet, the BMW 640i Gran Coupe LCI is powered by a 3.0 litre inline-six engine with 320 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Couple to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the car rockets from rest to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds before topping out at 250 km/h. Fitted with an array of efficiency-improving tech from the marque’s EfficientDynamics range, it registers a fuel consumption figure of 12.8 km/l.

Also, a new sports exhaust system is fitted as standard on the new four-door coupe. The setup allows for a more raucous note when Sport mode is selected. As mentioned, the BMW 640i Gran Coupe LCI retails for RM788,800 and comes with a five-year/unlimited mileage warranty and a free service package.
